الان اصبحت مذاكرة  قواعد اللغة الانجليزية ( Grammar ) اسهل حيث وفرنا مجموعة من المراجعات النهائية لصفوف المرحلة الثانوية مقسمة علي عدة اجزاء كالنالي :


participle clauses:

Participle clauses are groups of words which begin with a verb in the -ing form. These clauses can come before or after the main part of a sentence.

  • usage:
    • use participle clauses instead of clauses starting with as, while, after or when:
      • As hend was goingto the cinema yesterday, she saw an accident.
      • Goingto the cinema yesterday, sara saw an accident.
      • When he arrivedhome early, he found that he forgot his keys.
      • Arrivinghome early, he found that he forgot his keys.
    • Participle clauses can also be used instead of clauses starting with and.
      • The car crashed and madea very loud noise.
      • The car crashed, makinga very loud noise.
    • the subject of the participle clause must be the same as the subject of the main clause:
      • i heardthe phone ring and i picked it up.
      • Hearingthe phone ring, i picked it up.
      • The lion attacked the crowd and killedmany people.
      • The lion attacked the crowd, killingmany people.


can/could for ability
present past future
can could can/ will be able to
am/ is / are  able to was/ were able to
  1. can (ability in the present or future)

He can read spanish.                              She’s able to drive her mother.

Can you jump? No, i can’t. i can swim though.

  1. could / was able to (ability in the past for repeated actions)

i could / was able to work for 12 hours when i was young. (Repeated action)

He could/was able to fly a plane when he was 15.

  1. was able to (= managed to)

(Ability in the past for repeated actions or a single action)

He was able to drive a car when he was thirteen.

He was able to win the race.

  • note:

She couldn’t / wasn’t able to find her ring.                         (Single action)

He couldn’t / wasn’t able to use the computer when he was young.    (Repeated action).

can/ be able to / capable / ability / enable

my friend can/ could              + inf. Speak English.
is / was able to        + inf. Speak English.
is / was capable of   + v-ing Speaking English.
has / had the ability to      + inf. Speak English.
  • notes:
    • Englishenables us to read the books written in English easily.
  • notes:
    • “be able to” expresses ability after effort .
    • My rival was strong but i was able tobeat him.
    • The questions were difficult but the students were able toanswer them.


can/could for possibility:

In the future, we can/ could live on the moon.

Some cars can use electricity. (This is possible.)

We could ban cars from cities. (This would be possible if we wanted it.)

He could still be at home. (It’s possible.)

You have been sleeping all day. You can’t be tired.

(i don’t think that you are tired.)

Can he still be at work? (Is it possible?)

She can’t still be at work; it’s already 6 pm.

He can’t have won the tennis match. He doesn’t know how to play.    (This is not possible.)



Can/could for permission:

You can have one more if you want.                             (Giving permission)

You can’t enter this room.                                             (Refusing permission)

You can’t smoke in that room.               You can’t play ball games in the park.


Can i park my car in your garage? (Asking for permission)
